Community Foundation Northeast Michigan Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Community Foundation Northeast Michigan
Introduction
Every scholarship submission is evaluated thoroughly to ensure applicants are matched with every award for which they qualify. Thanks to the generosity of local donors, there are more than 70 scholarship funds available to students and adults who live in, or who have attended school in, Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle counties.
Before you apply
Now is a good time to assemble documents and details you may need for the online application. Specific scholarships have different requirements, so you might not be asked for every item listed below. Many of these materials are commonly requested by colleges, so you may already have them ready.
Materials you may be asked to provide
- High school and college transcript copies, if applicable. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable provided they clearly show your name, current academic year, cumulative GPA, and the school’s name.
- GED certificate or high school diploma, if relevant
- One current letter of recommendation (from someone other than a family member) that speaks to your abilities, strengths, and other pertinent qualities
- Academic awards and honors
- Athletic awards and recognition
- Extracurricular activities and any related awards
- Community service or volunteer experience
- Employment history
- Family or household responsibilities
- Additional documentation as required by the specific scholarship’s criteria
Important notes
- The CFNEM online scholarship portal is not intended for applicants under 13 years old. Applicants younger than 13 must complete a paper application available from our office and apply in person with a parent or legal guardian.
- You may be required to confirm your chosen school by April 1 to retain an award.
- Applications found to contain false or misleading information may be disqualified.
- Recipients of existing CFNEM multi-year awards (for example: Dee Brown Perry, Park U of M, Jesse Besser, etc.) will only be considered for additional awards if no other qualified candidates are being considered by the selection committee for that particular award.
