Monroe County Farm Bureau is awarding three $750 scholarships this spring to local students pursuing agricultural careers. The scholarships — the Betty Bliss Scholarship, the Dale Lynn Mason Scholarship, and the Young Farmer Memorial Scholarship — will be granted in May. Area students are encouraged to apply.

Who is eligible
- High school seniors or students already enrolled in post-secondary programs who are preparing for careers related to agriculture.
- Approved educational settings include four-year colleges and universities, community colleges, trade schools, and vocational training programs that support the agricultural industry.
- Current post-secondary students are eligible.
- Farm Bureau membership is NOT required for consideration, though participation in the Young Farmer Committee is encouraged.
- Recipients are expected to have an interest in returning to the local community after completing their studies.

How to apply
- Download the application as the Microsoft Word file titled "2024 Monroe County FB Scholarship App" from the Farm Bureau website.
- Submit the completed application along with:
- An essay responding to: What are your top three concerns or challenges in agriculture today? Explain how local farmers might address or overcome these challenges.
- Two letters of recommendation.

Deadlines and selection
- Applications and supporting materials must be returned to the Monroe County Farm Bureau office in Ida by April 29.
- Applicant interviews will be conducted the morning of Saturday, May 4 by the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Award payment
- Each scholarship winner will receive a $750 award. Payments are issued as a check made payable to both the student and the school once the recipient provides first-semester transcripts that confirm enrollment and show grades.
- Past scholarship recipients may apply again so long as they remain enrolled in an agriculture-related course of study.

For questions or to confirm where to send materials, contact the Monroe County Farm Bureau office in Ida.
