Robert W MacDonald Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Gratiot County Community Foundation
Robert W. MacDonald was enmeshed in ink from an early age. Journalism became a part of him as a young boy and later became his life-long career. He was the owner and publisher of the Gratiot County Herald for many years until his death. Because of his love for the written word, this Scholarship was established in Robert's memory.
The MacDonald Family set high goals for the recipient of this award because these qualities would best describe Robert MacDonald himself. The recipient must exhibit all around citizenship qualities within the school and community. Consideration is also given to students known to be of high moral character and who possess and have demonstrated a willingness to be of service to others both in school and community.
There could be no better way to honor the memory of a man of such high moral character and citizenship, than to present this award with similar traits who also shares Robert's passion for journalism.
