Annually, the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots' Santa Rosa chapter grants a scholarship to a local female pilot. The scholarship's objective is to financially support the recipient in obtaining a specific flight training rating or certificate, or to aid in continuing education, thereby advancing her aviation career.

Who Can Apply?

  • Any female pilot with a current private license, medical, and flight review.
  • Applicants should be considering a career in any aviation field, with an emphasis on flight training or education.
  • Applicants must live within a 150-mile radius of the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, CA.
  • Applicants must meet the prerequisites for the rating they are applying for (e.g., required flight hours, ratings, medical), and must have fulfilled the written requirements for the rating before the scholarship money is distributed.
  • Applicants must be at least 17 years old.
  • Membership in the Ninety-Nines or the Santa Rosa Chapter is not mandatory for applicants.
  • Previous recipients of the Santa Rosa Ninety-Nine aviation scholarship are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply

  • Applicants must fill out the provided form in its entirety. Submissions of self-created or altered forms will not be accepted.
  • Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria. The Santa Rosa Ninety-Nines scholarship committee will verify eligibility.
  • All applications must be postmarked no later than August 15, 2025.

A panel of three local aviation community members will evaluate the scholarship applications. The selection criteria will include:

  • Aviation activities as outlined in a personal essay and supported by recommendations.
  • Ability to achieve set goals, as evidenced by recommendations, academic and professional records.
  • Dedication to the aviation field as expressed in the personal essay and recommendations.
  • Proven financial need.

The Santa Rosa Ninety-Nines scholarship committee will inform the successful applicant and all unsuccessful applicants by October 31, 2025.

Scholarship Details

  • The scholarship is valued at $5000 and must be utilized within one year of issuance.
  • The scholarship money can be used for academic tuition, technical school fees, or flight training.
  • Funds will be disbursed upon receipt of documentation verifying the training. Receipts must be signed by both the student and the instructor and, if applicable, include copies of the logbook.
  • The scholarship money should be used towards a single rating or certificate.
