## Overview: WMGA Foundation Scholarship program
**Mission and history**
The WMGA Foundation awards scholarships to young women pursuing higher education, with a focus on applicants who have an interest in golf. Since 2001 the Foundation has supported more than 115 recipients with financial assistance. The program aims to help cover education costs while emphasizing academic achievement, character, and leadership.

Key takeaways:
- Established in 2001; more than 115 recipients to date.
- Supports young women who demonstrate an interest or association with golf.
- Emphasizes education, character, integrity, and leadership.

## Scholarship scope
**What the award can pay for**
The scholarship can be used toward qualified educational expenses, including tuition, room and board, incidental fees, and books. Awards are granted based on demonstrated financial need and the student’s continuation in school. The selection committee determines the amount and the number of semesters covered for each recipient.

Key takeaways:
- Covers tuition, room & board, fees, and books.
- Award amounts and term lengths are committee-determined.
- Continued enrollment and ongoing financial need affect award maintenance.

## Eligibility requirements
**Who may apply**
Applicants must be young women who show interest in or an association with the game of golf and who have applied to or attend an accredited university, college, or trade school. Candidates must demonstrate scholastic ability, outstanding character, integrity, and leadership, and must reside within the WMGA service area (within a 60-mile radius of New York City limits and all of Long Island). A personal interview with a Foundation Board member is also required.

Key takeaways:
- Interest/association with golf and enrollment at an accredited institution required.
- Must demonstrate scholastic ability, character, integrity, and leadership.
- Residency within the WMGA area and availability for a personal interview are mandatory.

## Application process and required documents
**How to apply and what to submit**
Complete the WMGA Foundation application form and submit it by email to the Foundation; you will receive an email confirming receipt. Upload or attach the following supporting documents: high school transcript, SAT and/or ACT scores, college or trade-school transcript (if applicable), FAFSA copy, SAR (with EFC), first two pages of the most recent federal tax returns (applicant and family/guardian), financial aid award letters, two letters of recommendation, and your Common Application essay. File the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1 so the SAR is available in time.

Key takeaways:
- Submit the completed application by email and expect an acknowledgement email.
- Required documents include transcripts, test scores, FAFSA, SAR, tax returns, aid letters, recommendations, and an essay.
- File FAFSA promptly after January 1 to allow time for processing.

## Deadlines and review timeline
**When applications are reviewed and decisions made**
Applications must be submitted by the posted due date to be considered; late submissions are not considered but may be resubmitted the following year. Applications are reviewed in late May and recipients will be notified no later than June 15, 2026. Plan your submissions and supporting-document timelines to meet this review schedule.

Key takeaways:
- Late applications are ineligible for the current cycle; reapply next year.
- Review occurs in late May; notifications by June 15, 2026.
- Submit all materials in time to meet the review window.

## Award terms and conditions
**Maintenance, disbursement, and forfeiture rules**
Scholarships are awarded for a specified number of semesters and are payable to the student. Awards are contingent on the recipient’s continued enrollment and demonstrated financial need; failure to enroll within one year or to remain in school can result in cancellation. Recipients must submit academic verification and semester transcripts promptly each term; failure to do so may forfeit future payments. Any funds used inconsistently with award terms must be returned to the Foundation.

Key takeaways:
- Awards are payable to the student and cover a committee-determined number of semesters.
- Continued enrollment and ongoing financial need are conditions of the award.
- Timely submission of semester transcripts is required; misuse or noncompliance can result in cancellation and repayment.

## Confidentiality
**How applicant information is handled**
All information submitted to the WMGA Foundation is treated as confidential and used only for evaluation and award administration. The Foundation retains applicant materials in accordance with its internal policies. If you have questions about data handling, refer to the application form or Foundation contact information for specifics.

Key takeaways:
- Applicant materials are kept confidential.
- Information is used solely for evaluation and administering scholarships.
- Contact details for questions are provided on the application form.
