SILA Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Securities and Insurance Licensing Association Foundation
Intro
From February 1 through March 31, 2025, the Securities and Insurance Licensing Association Foundation, Inc. (SILA Foundation, Inc.) will accept applications for twelve (12) scholarships of $1,250 each. These awards support students pursuing careers in the insurance and securities fields and may be used at any accredited post‑secondary college or university located within the continental United States. Post‑graduate study is eligible.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.00.
- Field of study must be one of the following:
1. Insurance / Compliance / Risk Management
2. Economics
3. Financial Advisor / Financial Planner / Broker / Stock Trader
4. Finance / Accounting / Actuarial Science
5. General Business
6. Business Administration
7. Business Information
8. Business / Management Information Systems
9. Law / Paralegal
10. Information Technology
- Enrollment/workload requirements (at an accredited post‑secondary institution):
- Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours; OR
- Enrolled in at least 9 credit hours and working part‑time (minimum 20 hours per week); OR
- Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours and employed full‑time (minimum 32 hours per week).
Required application materials
All items below must be submitted (applications accepted only between February 1–March 31, 2025) and the online application must be electronically signed.
- Completed, electronically signed SILA Foundation Scholarship Application (submission window above).
- Official or unofficial scholastic transcript demonstrating GPA and supporting the declared field of study.
- High school seniors should submit their high school transcript. If selected, incoming college students must provide their fall enrollment schedule from their college/university before scholarship funds will be released.
- If you request your transcript be sent directly from your institution, upload the receipt of that request with your application.
- One letter of reference.
- Employment verification letter if claiming full‑time employment as part of the enrollment/work requirement.
Important notes and timeline
- Only applications submitted with all required documentation will be considered. Incomplete submissions will be disqualified.
- Applications are reviewed and awards determined by the SILA Foundation. Selections are based on the content and merit of the application materials.
- Award recipients must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency if selected (examples: U.S. passport, birth certificate, state driver’s license, or USCIS Permanent Resident Card).
- Scholarships are granted for the upcoming academic year. Award payments will be sent directly to the recipient’s institution in September.
