FUNDRAISING EXAMPLES
Examples of projects used to raise funds: Walk-a-thons, Bike-a-thons, and Silent Auctions.

WHO WE ARE
We are the female relatives and descendants of AMVETS members and female veterans — mothers, wives, widows, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, stepdaughters, and granddaughters — and female veterans who are currently serving or who have honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces (including National Guard and Reserve components) at any time after September 15, 1940.

OUR MISSION / WHAT WE DO
We support veterans, their families, and our local communities through community service and youth development. Our programs include career, nursing, and youth scholarships; assistance to hospitalized veterans; sending support to active-duty service members; and promoting patriotism and civic engagement. We also back several partner organizations, including:
- Freedom’s Foundation (civic education and American history),
- John Tracy Clinic (services for deaf and hearing-impaired children ages 18 months to 5 years),
- Penrickton Center for Blind and Multi-Disabled Children (birth to 12 years),
- PAWS with a Cause (assistance dog training),
- St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,
- Veterans Affairs Volunteer Services programs.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following:
1. Be a member of AMVETS, AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of AMVETS, or be the spouse, child, or grandchild of a member of the AMVETS family.
2. Be a resident of the State of Michigan.
3. Be a high school graduate by June 30 of the application year, or be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in a degree program.

APPLICATION REQUIRED MATERIALS AND GUIDELINES
- Complete the official application form legibly (type or print).
- Provide statements of financial need. If employed (or previously employed), submit the applicant’s W-2 form(s).
- List any financial assistance provided by parents or guardians.
- Submit proof of membership: a copy of the applicant’s or sponsor’s AMVETS Family Organization membership card.
- First-year college students must include a letter of acceptance on official school letterhead from the accredited college or university.
- Transcripts: An official transcript (with raised seal or raised watermark) of the most recent high school or college record showing cumulative GPA and total credits must be included. A notarized high school equivalency certificate with scores may be submitted in lieu of a transcript. If the transcript does not show graduation, include an official letter on school letterhead verifying graduation by June 30. Self-generated computerized transcripts are not official and will not be accepted.
