Missouri Chapter APWA Technology Scholarship

Introduction
The Missouri Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) is a network of engineers, technicians, operations personnel, public works directors, business professionals, contractors, consultants, and others who collaborate to share best practices, support professional development, and serve community needs. The Missouri Chapter represents members from across the state of Missouri outside the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Overview of the Missouri Chapter Technology Scholarship
The Missouri Chapter Technology Scholarship provides one $2,000 award to a Missouri high school senior or recent graduate residing within the Missouri Chapter’s geographic boundary (outside the Kansas City metro area). The scholarship supports students who intend to enroll in an accredited technical school or college in a program that prepares them for a career in Public Works—examples include construction technology, surveying, heavy equipment operation, parks/grounds/building maintenance, fleet maintenance, or other related technical fields. The award may be applied at any accredited technical institution.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a graduating senior or recent graduate of a Missouri high school located within the Missouri Chapter’s geographic area (outside the Kansas City metropolitan area).
- Intend to enroll in an accredited technical school or college in a program leading to a Public Works career.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant with valid documentation at the time of application.
- Have permanent residence within the Missouri Chapter geographic boundary.
- Not have previously received the same APWA Missouri Chapter or Branch scholarship they are applying for.
Application requirements
Submit the following materials (as a single PDF where noted):
1. Completed APWA Scholarship Application form.
2. One letter of reference from either an active Missouri APWA Chapter member or a personal mentor (non-family), such as a teacher, employer, or pastor. One additional reference letter may be submitted. Letters from APWA members will receive greater consideration.
3. Official high school transcript (electronic copy acceptable).
Deadlines, notification, and award payment
- Applications must be received by 12:00 midnight (12:00 AM) on April 1.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than May 30.
- Award winners and a guest will be invited to an APWA luncheon in St. Louis, typically held in June; attendance is encouraged but not mandatory.
- Scholarship funds will be disbursed after confirmation of the recipient’s enrollment at the accredited technical school or college.
