Sue Dilts Memorial Art Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Gratiot County Community Foundation
Overview
This scholarship was created to honor Sue Dilts, an art teacher at Ithaca High School whose passion for art and teaching left a lasting impression on Gratiot County students. Sue brought energy, imagination, and steady encouragement to the classroom, exposing students to many artistic media and fostering a supportive, creative atmosphere. Skilled in calligraphy, pottery, fiber arts, painting, and photography, she also explored other forms of artistic expression. Her encouragement inspired numerous pupils to follow careers that used their artistic talents. Sue’s sister, Cheri Booth, recalls that Sue “helped transform the Ithaca High School Art Department into a welcoming, positive place for students with a wide range of artistic abilities.” Shortly after Sue’s death in 1997, her family established this scholarship to continue her legacy of promoting the appreciation and study of art in all its forms.
