Scholarship Sponsored by North Texas Fair & Rodeo
Award
- Total amount: $2,000, paid directly to the recipient’s institution in two installments of $1,000 per semester.
- If the recipient withdraws or does not complete a semester, any remaining installment(s) will be forfeited.
Who may apply
- Graduating seniors (public, private, or home school) in the year they plan to begin college.
- Must have been accepted by an accredited junior college or university. (If a chosen recipient is not ultimately accepted, the committee will award the scholarship to the alternate.)
What the committee will consider
- Participation in school and community activities, including FFA, FHA, and 4-H.
- Involvement in the annual North Texas Fair & Rodeo.
- Demonstrated financial need and readiness to assume personal responsibility.
- Selection is based solely on the application materials and will not be influenced by sex, race, creed, color, handicap, or religion.
Application requirements (must be submitted by May 1)
- Completed application with required signatures.
- Two letters of recommendation: one from a school official and one from another person of the applicant’s choice.
- Two photographs suitable for publication.
Notification
- Decisions of the scholarship committee are final. Applicants selected will be notified by June 1.
Conditions after selection
- Prior to payment, the recipient must provide an invoice or acceptance/enrollment documentation from the junior college or university showing full‑time enrollment (minimum 12 semester credit hours).
- To receive the second-semester payment, a copy of grades and current enrollment papers must be submitted after the first semester.
- The recipient must be enrolled and in good academic standing in the fall semester immediately following selection. If immediate enrollment is not possible, the recipient may submit a written request to defer the award; postponement is granted only at the committee’s discretion and based on demonstrated need.
- If requested, the recipient must be available for an interview or for the scholarship presentation.
