Overview This scholarship provides $2,000 total, paid directly to the recipient’s college as two payments of $1,000 per semester. If the recipient withdraws or does not complete a semester, any remaining payments will be canceled. Notification and Selection The decision of the scholarship committee is final. Applicants chosen to receive the award will be notified by June 1. What the Committee Will Consider Selection will take into account: - Involvement in school and community activities, including FFA, FHA, and 4‑H - Participation in the annual North Texas Fair & Rodeo - Demonstrated financial need and a record of responsibility Selection will be made from information provided on the application. Decisions will not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, creed, color, handicap, or religion. Who May Apply - Current graduating seniors (public, private, or home school) who are applying to college in the same year. - Applicants must have been accepted to an accredited junior college or university. If an applicant is selected but has not secured acceptance, the scholarship will be offered to the committee’s alternate choice. Required Application Materials (complete submission due by May 1) - Fully completed application with all required signatures - Two letters of recommendation: one from a school official and one from a person of the applicant’s choice - Two photographs suitable for publication Requirements After Selection (conditions for payment) - Before any funds are released, the scholarship committee must receive proof of enrollment or an official acceptance/invoice showing the student is registered full‑time (minimum 12 semester credit hours). - To receive the second semester payment, submit a copy of first‑semester grades and enrollment documentation. - The recipient must be enrolled in good standing and attending the approved junior college or university in the fall semester following selection. If immediate enrollment is not possible, the recipient may submit a written request to defer; postponement is granted only upon committee approval and will be considered based on demonstrated need. - If requested, the recipient must attend an interview or be present for the scholarship presentation.
