Overview
The Association of Connecticut Fairs, Inc. is offering three scholarships of $1,000 each to help students continue their education at an accredited college or university. Eligible applicants include graduating high school seniors and students already enrolled in college. The three awards are designated as follows:
- One $1,000 scholarship for a student (high school senior or current college student) who plans to study agriculture, family and consumer sciences, or a closely related discipline during the upcoming academic year.
- One $1,000 scholarship for a student (high school senior or current college student) who intends to pursue study in any field during the upcoming academic year.
- One $1,000 scholarship selected at the Scholarship Committee’s discretion.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a high school senior or a current college student.
- Applicant must be an active or former participant in a member fair of the Association of Connecticut Fairs, Inc.
How to Apply
- Applications must be completed and submitted through the Association’s online application form.
- The online system allows applicants to save their progress and upload required documents so they can coordinate with their Fair Secretary or 4‑H Representative before final submission.
- Applicants are required to supply contact details for a Fair Secretary or a 4‑H Representative who can verify fair participation.
Required Materials
- All mandatory fields on the online application must be filled in for the submission to be considered complete.
- A high school or college transcript must be uploaded; an official transcript may be requested for verification if necessary.
- Contact information for a Fair Secretary or 4‑H Representative must be included in the application.
Deadline and Notification
- Completed applications must be submitted online by May 30 of the current year.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified by the Association prior to July 1.
- Awards are presented at the Association of Connecticut Fairs, Inc. Annual Fall Meeting (typically held in November). Recipients are encouraged to attend the meeting, but attendance is not required to receive the scholarship.
Selection and Judging
Applications are evaluated by the Scholarship Committee using the following weightings:
- Fair participation: 50%
- Essay: 30%
- Scholastic standing: 10%
- Citizenship and leadership: 10%
The Scholarship Committee reserves the right not to grant an award if no applicant meets the committee’s standards.
Promotion and Assistance
- Member fairs are urged to publicize the scholarship opportunity through fair meetings, community events, local newspapers, and school guidance offices.
- Fair Secretaries and 4‑H Representatives should support applicants by helping them understand and complete the online application process.
