Big Y's Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Big Y Foods, Inc.
Overview
The Big Y Scholarship program accepts applications from graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. Employees of Big Y, their dependents, customers and customers’ dependents are especially encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
- Applicants must either live in Massachusetts or Connecticut or be enrolled at a school located in Massachusetts or Connecticut.
- Eligible applicant categories include graduating high school seniors, current undergraduates, and graduate students.
How to Apply / Deadlines
- Applications are accepted only through the online system; paper forms are no longer accepted.
- All materials must be submitted by February 1. Incomplete or late applications received after February 1 will not be considered.
Required Supporting Materials
- Academic transcripts: Official copies are not required. Digital copies (photos, scans, PDFs) are acceptable.
- Letters of recommendation: Two letters are required. At least one must come from a teacher or college professor. High school seniors and first-year college students may submit copies of letters written for college admission if applicable. Recommenders may upload letters directly via the online application system—follow the prompts to request these from school personnel or others.
- Standardized tests: If you have not taken College Board exams (e.g., SAT or ACT), or if it has been more than three years since you took them, you may proceed with the online application without test scores.
- Personal resume/fact sheet: Include activities, honors, awards, community service, leadership roles, and class rank if applicable.
Important Note
Do not rely on older paper application forms found online or on third-party websites. Prior-year paper applications are not valid and will not be accepted.
