Background
The Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarships in Horticulture was established in 1981 to honor friendship and a shared passion for gardening within the GCA. Margaret Evans Berdan, a member of the Garden Club of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, founded it in memory of her friend Katharine MacConnell Grosscup, an avid gardener, passionate conservationist, and active member of the Shaker Lakes Garden Club in Ohio. The first chairperson of the scholarship committee was Elizabeth Evans, Mrs. Berdan’s sister-in-law, and a member of the Garden Club of Cleveland. The Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarship Committee is still jointly managed by three members each from the Shaker Lakes Garden Club and the Garden Club of Cleveland.
Application Process
Refer to the application and information. Applications can be submitted electronically or mailed to reach the GCA Headquarters in New York City by January 15. IMPORTANT: APPLICANTS CAN ONLY APPLY FOR ONE GCA SCHOLARSHIP, FELLOWSHIP OR AWARD EACH YEAR.
