In the academic year of 2025/2026, BetterLife will be enhancing the financial aid provided to its members seeking further education, with the total benefit amount rising to $110,000. Members of BetterLife are invited to apply for the National Scholarship benefit offered by BetterLife, which comprises up to 61 scholarships. The breakdown of these scholarships is as follows:

  • A single $10,000 Annual Scholarship will be granted to a deserving BetterLife member
  • Nine annual scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded to deserving BetterLife members
  • The Bradley Family Scholarship, worth $5,000, is generously donated by BetterLife Board Director Mary Bradley and her family
  • Fifty annual scholarships of $1,000 each will be granted to deserving BetterLife members
  • All students, including returning adults enrolled full-time, undergraduate and graduate degree students, associate degree students, and those pursuing certificates at accredited trade and technical schools, are urged to apply
  • Recipients of other BetterLife scholarships – whether from member groups, districts, or states – are also eligible for these BetterLife National Member Scholarships

The following are the guidelines and requirements for the BetterLife National Scholarship program:

  • Applications for the 2025/2026 academic year will be open from January 1 to March 31, 2025
  • Active involvement in a BetterLife member group is a prerequisite
  • Members can win the $10,000 Annual Scholarship once
  • Members can win the $5,000 and $1,000 scholarships up to two times. Members must apply annually, and previous winners are still eligible
  • Applicants must be accepted or enrolled as full-time students for the entire 2025/2026 academic year at a College/University or Vocational/Technical Institution. Verification of this must be provided
  • Recipients of other BetterLife scholarships, whether from branches/lodges, districts, or states, are eligible for the National Scholarship
  • Checks will be sent directly to the educational institution to be applied towards tuition, books, and other expenses
  • Applicants must submit a video and essay that provide a compelling personal statement, addressing four key areas. Each area will be evaluated based on the effectiveness of your communication and the strength of your argument for why you should receive a scholarship. The four areas are:
  • Your passion for your chosen field of study
  • Your future career aspirations
  • Your engagement with BetterLife and your plans to contribute to the BetterLife community and pursue leadership opportunities within BetterLife in the future
  • Your financial need, including a brief overview of your family’s financial capacity to support your education and any exceptional circumstances that may be impacting your family’s financial situation, such as medical issues or job loss
