Governor John Engler Scholarship — Overview and Eligibility
Overview
John Engler, a native of Isabella County, was raised as the son of Agnes and the late Matt Engler, a farmer and cattleman from Beal City. Engler served as Michigan’s 46th governor from 1991 to 2003 and is Michigan’s second-longest-serving governor. The Governor John Engler Scholarship Fund was created to honor his roots in Isabella County by awarding educational assistance to local graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue careers in public service.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Must be a graduating high school senior from Isabella County.
- Minimum cumulative grade point average: 3.25.
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in public service, such as public administration or work in the nonprofit sector (examples include social work, law enforcement, government, etc.).
- Shows an exemplary attitude toward both school and the wider community.
