Overview
This scholarship supports students who have served as caddies and are either finishing high school or already enrolled in college. Awards range from $1,000 to $2,000 and may be continued for up to three additional years.
Who is eligible
- Status: Graduating high school seniors or current undergraduate students.
- Caddie experience: At least two years caddying at the Kalamazoo Country Club or at a member club.
- Residence: Must be a resident of Kalamazoo County.
- High school: Applicants should be from a Kalamazoo County high school.
- Financial need: Not a strict requirement, but applicants with demonstrated financial need are given preference.
Award details
- Amount: $1,000–$2,000.
- Renewal: Renewable for up to three additional years.
Background and purpose
The Glen C. Smith Jr./KCC Caddie Scholarship was created in 1985 through the Kalamazoo Community Foundation by the Kalamazoo Country Club Caddie Committee in honor of Glen C. Smith, Jr. Its mission is to provide financial assistance to young people participating in qualified caddie programs at clubs affiliated with the Golf Association of Michigan and the Western Golf Association.
