Katherine Mullinax Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Gratiot County Community Foundation
Overview
This scholarship provides financial assistance to Gratiot County residents who are graduating from high school or who are enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program.
Background
Katherine Mullinax (1908–1996) ran the Betty Barry Shop in St. Louis and later handed the business to her daughter, Betty Miller. Betty was known both for her business acumen and her generous spirit. When Betty died in 2004, she arranged for a scholarship to be created in memory of her mother, Katherine (pictured at right). The award was first given in 2007—almost 100 years after Mrs. Mullinax’s birth—and is intended to continue supporting Gratiot County students pursuing higher education for generations to come.
