Katherine Mullinax Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Gratiot County Community Foundation
Overview
This scholarship supports Gratiot County residents who are graduating from high school or who are enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program.
Background
Katherine Mullinax (1908–1996) operated the Betty Barry Shop in St. Louis and later turned the business over to her daughter, Betty Miller. Betty gained a reputation as a successful businesswoman and a generous supporter of charitable causes. Following Betty’s death in 2004, funds were provided to establish a scholarship in memory of her mother, Katherine. The inaugural awards were made in 2007—almost a century after Mrs. Mullinax’s birth—and the scholarship is intended to assist Gratiot County students for years to come.
